Matt has 9 years of experience counseling children ages 4-13 as a public school counselor, where he also worked closely with teachers and parents. He often worked with children facing anxiety, depression, family separation and structural changes, grief, bullying, transitional concerns, and self harm. In addition, he has experience in working with elderly individuals as a social worker, in a skilled nursing facility, helping residents (and family members) deal with illness and end of life struggles. He has also worked with adults in inpatient and outpatient facilities facing difficulties in the areas of emotional stress, addiction, physical injury and rehab, and trauma. Matt approaches counseling from a systems perspective and focuses on analyzing thoughts, feelings, and choices, as well as relationships, communication skills, coping skills, and play therapy techniques with children.
